The Department of Fashion Technology offers B.Tech - Fashion Technology, 4 years undergraduate programme accredited by National Board for Accreditation (NBA). This programme is structured to meet the technological and managerial needs of the fashion industry and to take care of the needs of placement, career growth and personal aspiration of the students. After a good foundation in communication skills, applied maths & science and textile technology, strong emphasis is given to apparel designing, technology, management and computer application, keeping in pace with the revolution in information technology.
The department has well qualified, experienced, competent and committed faculty members. They regularly involve in organizing conferences, workshops, publishing books, research papers and funded projects. The department is equipped with state of art laboratories such as Pattern Engineering Laboratory, Garment Manufacturing Laboratory, Fashion CAD Laboratory, Apparel Resource Centre, Surface Ornamentation Laboratory, Apparel Machinery Laboratory and Apparel Quality Evaluation Laboratory. The department has the proud privilege of having three centres of excellence in the campus
As a part of the curriculum, the students of fashion technology are continuously and compulsorily undergoing various internship training programs in reputed industries all over the country where they are exposed to practical knowledge on the manufacturing process, technology & machineries, merchandising management & quality assurance systems. Our interaction with the industry gets strengthened further with the various industry orientated student projects. Apart from the regular courses of study, the students of Fashion Technology has the option of undergoing one credit courses, which are handled by experts from reputed industries on key areas of Technology and Management to enrich their knowledge on current trends and technology prevailing in the Apparel & Fashion Industries. Through this courses the students also have a chance to interact with eminent person from the industries to understand the practical now-how.
The Department encourages student involvement in several co-curricular activities like group discussion, quizzes, cultural meets, conferences, seminars and symposiums which will invariably help them in enhancing their organizing capability, communication skill, leadership qualities and team spirit.The Fashion Technology Association functions as a forum for students to organize technical events, facilitating interaction with experts from industry and academia. Students actively assist in organizing national / international conferences, seminars, workshops, symposia and participate in the proceedings. Eminent speakers from industry and academia under the auspices of fashion technology association deliver lectures on current trends which keep the students abreast of the latest technological developments
