ECE GOLDEN JUBILEE YEAR 1968 - 2018

Welcome to the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore

Started in 1968, ECE is one of the most sought after departments at PSG Tech, a college ranked among the top 20 in the country. With over 50 dedicated faculty members and state of the art facilities, the department serves around 550 undergraduate student's and 144 postgraduate students and around 90 ongoing research scholar's. The Department has produced 84 Doctorates in the area of Wireless Communication, VLSIDesign, Signal Processing, Networking,Embedded and RF Design. There is exciting research taking place in the department under a wide range of fields in its many labs equipped with high precision instruments and cutting edge technology.The Department has been funded with sponsored research from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Department of Science and Technology (DST),Defense Research and Development Organization(DRDO),University Grants Commission (UGC) etc..

The department of ECE enjoys a respectable stature among the major recruiters in India. The excellent performance of its alumni across the globe has enabled the department to maintain its strong reputation. The collaboration with companies such as Keysight Freescale, Infineon, Intel and Texas Instruments, has aided the department in providing a good platform on which our students thrive.

The ECE Students are placed in high profile Industrial Environment and most of them are occupying leading positions in Academia,Industry World Wide.The students are involved in development of innovative projects through their strong industrial based curriculum and most of them undergo industrial internships during the project phase.Many of them are successful Entrepreneurs providing technical knowledge and Excellent Coordination for the present students.

Dr. Krishnaveni V. , Professor (CAS) & Head

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was started in 1968 . Started with an Under Graduate programme in B.E., Electronics and Communication Engineering, and later offered with Post Graduate programmes in M.E. Communication Systems, M.E. VLSI Design and M. Tech Nanoscience and Technology to offer high-class technical education and innovative experience to the students.The ECE department has created Milestones in attaining the best students with morality, ethics and culture. It has excellent faculty support with good teaching skills, and research orientation for the contribution towards socio-economic development.
Significant Achievements
• Maintaining strong collaborations with universities and industries in India and abroad.
• Established laboratories in collaboration with various industries
• Undertook Sponsored Research projects with funding from various agencies, including DST, MEITY, AICTE, UGC,DRDO, INTEL-FICE, World Bank SDC, etc.
• Ph.D. scholars graduated to the total of 124 from the year 2000 to 2023.
• Granted with 3 patents, and 9 patents are in the published stage from 2013 to 2022.
• Academia to Industry Technology Transfer materialized for the Products developed with the collaboration of DST funding.
• Organized International Conferences such as ICIIET -2022 (IEEE Sponsored) and ICAICV -2010.
• Organised International VLSI Design and Test Symposium in association with VLSI Society of India –VDAT 2014 and International Guest Faculty workshop in association with MeiTY in 2013
Awards & Recognitions
• Accreditation for the U.G. and P.G. programmes by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA)
o B.E. ECE is accredited for 6 years from 2018 to 2024.
o M.E. VLSI Design is accredited for 6 years by NBA from 2016 to 2022.
o M.E. Communication Systems is accredited for 5 years by NBA from 2017 to 2022.
• Received the AICTE-CII Award for the Best Industry-Linked Institute under Electronics and Communication Engineering stream in 2013.
• Semiconductor Chips Serial Peripheral Interface Controller and two cryptographic processors were taped out in 180nm CMOS Technology in collaboration with SCL Chandigarh under VLSI SMDP-C2SD project.
