The Students’ Chapter of IEEE at PSG College of Technology was founded in 1974. It was started to increase the participation of students in research and encourage new ideas in the respective fields. PSG has always been known to set benchmarks in terms of quality of engineering and is one of the first and foremost institutions to have a Students branch of IEEE. The IEEE Students Chapter of PSG Tech has been actively involved in organizing top notch technical fests every year that has evoked the interest and involvement of students from various parts of the country. It has been the biggest technical Association in PSG College of Technology.


Dr. S. Subha Rani (born on 15.11.1961) completed her BE (Hons) ECE and ME Applied Electronics in Anna University and obtained a PhD from Bharathiar University. She is well versed and up-to-date in her field.

In the teaching profession, she has a vast experience of over 33 years. She has been the Head of the Department since 2009.She has handled a wide range of subjects for undergraduate students from the ECE, EEE and CSE streams, and postgraduate students from Communication Systems.

An ardent research scholar, Dr. S. Subha Rani is currently guiding research in micro strip antenna design, image security, video processing algorithms and wireless sensor networks. Her research includes, among other things, wireless LAN networks, compression techniques in image processing and discrete time linear systems.

Dr. S. Subha Rani has contributed as a principal investigator in various projects funded by the DST, DRDO, AICTE, etc.

She has also won awards such as Best Student, Best Project and Best Paper at various levels.
She has organized and conducted various national and international conferences and workshops in the fields of VLSI design, embedded systems, wireless networks, advanced communication systems, etc. Dr. S. Subha Rani is a senior Member of IEEE and a Fellow of IE and IETE. She is also a prominent member of BESM, MISTE, MSSI and MCSI. She also serves as a member of various panels and committees of education institutions in various capacities.

SRiSHTi 2k17

Srishti is a two-day technical symposium conducted by IEEE Students chapter 12951 of PSG college of Technology. It is a wide spread inter-college technical fest wherein participants flood in from all over the nation. Srishti emphasizes different types of events on Technical, Non-Technical, Workshops, Paper presentation and on the Fun front! It is a wonderful platform for participants to broadcast their talents and intellectuality. SRISHTI CUP, the overall trophy is awarded each year to the students representing a single institution who have scored the maximum cumulative points in various events conducted in Srishti.

Srishti 2K17, yet another brainchild of the Student chapter, had over 1500 participants. It was conducted on the 23rd and 24th of September. Over 12 technical ,12 non-technical events , 5 Workshops and 5 Paper Presentation events from various departments were held.

ATOM 2k18

Atom is the other major event conducted by the IEEE Students Chapter 12951 for the students of our college. In Atom exhilarating technical and non-technical events are conducted over the course of 5 days. Students from all departments are allowed to participate. The volunteers are well trained in ATOM to excel in their work ethic for SRISHTI.
Atom 2k18 had over 100 participants each day.It was conducted on the 31st of January, 1st,2nd,5th and 6th of February. There were totally 5 technical, 5 non-technical events and 1 special event (IPL AUCTION).
